M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust

A man with dark hair wearing a white shirt and black suit smiles for the camera. The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust is pleased to announce that Elmer Huh will join the staff as chief investment officer beginning August 2017. Elmer was selected after an extensive national search, touching over one hundred prospective candidates.

Elmer has more than 20 years in the field of public/private equity and alternative investing and joins the Trust from Ernst & Young Capital Advisors in New York City, where he served as senior vice president of investment banking and alternative asset managers.

“The Trustees and I are grateful to have Elmer join our senior leadership team and to grow the future work of the Trust,” said Steve Moore, executive director of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. “Elmer has demonstrated a commitment to the mission of the Trust and will add creative and energetic thinking to our unique and effective investment strategy. He will build on the exceptional work and valued relationships with investment partners that have been developed over the past 30 years under the leadership and stewardship of our Trustees and our friend and colleague Jim Martin, current chief investment officer, who has plans to retire in 2018.

“This is an exceptional opportunity to join the amazing work of the Murdock Trust in serving the Northwest and beyond,” said Elmer. “I am energized and looking forward to learning from Jim, our investment manager partners and the whole team as we seek to have a lasting impact financially and fulfill the vision of Jack Murdock to strengthen and serve communities, families and individuals in creative and sustainable ways.”

Elmer graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Business Administration focused on international finance and accounting from the Columbia Business School.  He serves actively on the boards of international and local non-profit organizations and enjoys coaching sports, teaching and traveling. Elmer, his wife Esther, and two of their three children will move from Scarsdale, New York, to the Vancouver area this summer.
