An emergency room is often the first line of defense for residents and visitors in a rural community. Up-to-date equipment and well-laid-out facilities are essential for evaluating, diagnosing and caring for patients who come to the emergency room, and an x-ray machine is one of its most utilized pieces of equipment.

Teton Valley Health Care (TVHC) is the primary source in the Driggs, Idaho, area for healthcare screening and routine health monitoring, and its location in a rural mountainous valley comes with major transportation challenges. Residents must drive over a high mountain pass to access basic health care. Radiology is a key service offered at this Critical Access Hospital, and TVHC’s location in a popular outdoor recreation area makes its x-ray machine an indispensable diagnostic tool.

When TVHC received notice that its x-ray and fluoroscopy equipment was being discontinued and would no longer be supported by the manufacturer, the hospital jumped into action. With help from a Murdock Trust grant, TVHC replaced the machine and renovated its imaging suite.

The Murdock Trust understands the critical role hospitals play in the rural areas of the Pacific Northwest and is proud to support the important medical care Teton Valley Health Care provides to the residents and visitors of Driggs, Idaho.
