M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust

A woman with short blond hair wearing a gold scarf and pearl earrings smiles at the camera. In addition to our hardworking staff who call our Vancouver, WA offices home, the Murdock Trust is fortunate to also count a collection of incredibly wise, passionate professionals from around the country as Senior Fellows. Advising on myriad topics, these esteemed experts bring a wealth of experience from a variety of backgrounds and networks to support our work and represent the Trust as it seeks to fulfill its mission.

This month, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Sharon Daloz Parks to these ranks.

Principal, Leadership for the New Commons, and a senior fellow at the Whidbey Institute, Sharon held faculty and research positions at Harvard University in the schools of Divinity, Business, and the Kennedy School of Government for 16 years.  She also teaches at Seattle University in the Executive Leadership Program at the Albers School of Business, speaks and consults nationally on higher education, religion, and business and is the recipient of five honorary degrees.

Her publications include: Leadership Can Be Taught: A Bold Approach for a Complex World, and Big Questions, Worthy Dreams: Mentoring Emerging Adults in Their Search for Meaning, Purpose, and Faith (10th anniversary edition, 2011).  She is also a co-author of Common Fire:  Leading Lives of Commitment in a Complex World.

As a Senior Fellow, Sharon will focus her time on a variety of topics but place a primary emphasis on leadership development, mentoring and strengthening public discourse. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Sharon!
